Welcome to Heart and Soil Ridge! Come experience life on a Minnesota farm nestled in the rolling hills of Winona County. Relax outside on the deck, swing in a hammock among the trees, or enjoy a walk through our beautiful cover crop fields. This is a working farm and depending on the season, you are welcome to help collect eggs, observe the farm animals, learn about regenerative agriculture, and visit our Fox Red labradors. We want your experience at our farm to be relaxing and refreshing!
The lodge is a spacious property that easily sleeps 8-10. Attached to the main living area, is a beautiful indoor heated pool and hot tub. Relax around the pool, swim to your hearts content, and enjoy time together - even throughout the slow Minnesota winters. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience to watch the snow peacefully falling outside, well you enjoy a refreshing swim in a heated pool inside!
A large, fully functional farmhouse style kitchen, with an eat-in island, provides ample space to visit with friends while cooking up a delicious meal. The 8-foot dining table, made out of an upcycled bowling alley slab, is the perfect place to enjoy your meals, play a game, or work on that project you've been wanting to get to! Or, enjoy entertaining in both of the comfortable living room areas within the lodge - one on the main floor, and one upstairs. The main level living area is equipped with a smart TV and a cozy sectional, while the upstairs has comfortable seating in 2 overstuffed leather chairs, a couch, and a game table. Throughout the lodge, sliding barn doors add to the farmhouse feel, and open up into the three bedrooms. On the main floor family bedroom, catch up on your rest in the king bed, or a twin over full log bunkbed. Upstairs off of the living area are two additional bedrooms - one with two twin beds, and another with a king sized bed and a comfy reading nook. The lodge has one full bathroom and a main-floor laundry area, to help you leave from your time here without a mountain of laundry waiting for you at home. If being outside is more your style - look no further! Enjoy your morning cup of coffee across the farmstead in a spacious covered pavilion area with patio seating, a gas grill, and a large outdoor table. In the evening, wind down with a campfire at the fire pit and benches, right next to the pavilion. Feel free to wander around the farm as well - there is plenty of space to wander and roam, ridge top views to take in, flowers to admire, and animals to meet.
The lodge is located across from the main farmhouse, home to our family of seven, yet is quiet, with views of the tall, white barn. This is the perfect getaway for couples, friend gatherings, families with children, or family reunions. Check out our other listings on the farm for additional space or to accommodate larger groups - The Bungalow at Heart and Soil Ridge (sleeping 2), and the Cottage at Heart and Soil Ridge (sleeping 6), making our farm a great destination for family and friend reunions.
Be sure to make time to enjoy the area during your stay. Opportunities abound! Located halfway between La Crosse and Winona, a day of fun in the area is just a short drive away. Opportunities abound! Venture down the gorgeous bluff top drive along the Mississippi - the Scenic Apple Blossom Drive, just around the corner from our farm... winding your way through picturesque bluffs, rural countryside, and orchards. Or head to La Crosse and take a new vantage point from the view atop Grandad's bluff. Afterward, hop aboard the La Crosse Queen's sightseeing tour to learn about and experience the Mississippi. While there, take a leisurely stroll through Riverside Park and enjoy feeding the birds or watching the barges pass through. In Winona, don't miss the renowned Minnesota Marine Art Museum and its many treasures. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the view of Winona's Sugarloaf peak. Or plan your visit to include attendance at one of the many local festivals in Winona, La Crescent, or La Crosse, including Riverfest, Oktoberfest, Winona Steamboat Days, Applefest, Great River Shakespeare Festival, and various music, dance and film festivals offered throughout the year. Outdoor enthusiasts are sure to love our farm’s close proximity to Great River Bluffs State Park, a beautiful hiking location offering stunning views of the Coulee region’s famed bluffs along the Mississippi River. Biking enthusiasts will enjoy the Mississippi River Biking Trail, the nearby Root River Trail System, or could venture to the Elroy-Sparta Trail across the river in Wisconsin. The nearby Great River Road tours through quaint towns nestled along the river, providing unique shopping and dining options, or follow the Great River Road Wine Trail to take in local wineries. Within easy distance you will find opportunities for fishing, birding, hiking, rock climbing, swimming, canoeing/kayaking, golfing, ice fishing, snowmobiling, ice skating, skiing, and sledding. There is sure to be something interesting for everyone!
